Some Day, One Day
(Inspired by the lyrics from the song One Day by Matisyahu)

Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I pray it doesn’t get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know some day it’ll all turn around because
All my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
Mashiach to come and stay
There’ll be no more sighing
no more crying
And our children won’t be taken away
One day, one day, one day
I’m a part of G-d
When I hurt, He feels my pain
I pray ‘G-d, heal yourself,
Don’t let Your pain remain’
Give me strength to carry on as I’m aging
Help me not to drown in sorrow
My ocean of tears is raging
Give me a reason to get up tomorrow
One day, one day, one day
In this maze of grief
Sometimes I lose my way
Thank G-d I have belief
That this sadness will end one day
One day this all will change
When I’ll see my child again
Healthy and strong, it won’t seem strange
And the world will be perfect then
One day, one day, one day
My Boulevard of Broken Dreams
(Inspired by the lyrics from the song Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day)

I walk a lonely road
A road I never wanted to walk
My head bowed
I step over shattered pieces
Of my broken dreams
And I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk this empty street
My boulevard of broken dreams
Hopes for my child
Lost in the debris
And I walk alone, I walk alone
The world seems asleep
My shadow walks beside me
I’m the only one in my sorrow
As I walk down this lonely street
And I walk alone, I walk alone
I look up from the pavement
And what do I see?
People everywhere
Tears in their eyes, not looking at me
Sad faces, mad faces
Faces all in pain
Walking down their lonely read
Their boulevard of broken dreams
I look up at the sky, and ask G-d ‘Why’
But now I know I’m not the only one
My grief, our grief, Your grief G-d
Please fix it
And I’m not alone, I’m not alone
These are beautifully written. I also love that Matisyahu song you used as inspiration.
Are the Matisyahu and Green Day songs ones that your son had enjoyed listening to? Songs that you enjoy yourself?
I’m sorry if that is a painful question – you can ignore or delete this comment if you need to.
Thank you for your comment. My taste in music is mostly from the 60’s and 70’s. (Now I’ve dated myself!) Jacob would encourage me to listed to more ‘modern’ music. He liked Matisyahu and Green Day. We both listened to Boulevard of Broken Dreams together more than once.
These are both very beautiful and poignant, Rhonda.
Thank you so much for sharing of yourself.
Yours,
David
